Rail Bike Guide - Cooperstown
Job Description: Rail Explorers USA is currently hiring for full time and part time guides for our exciting new Cooperstown division opening this Summer! Rail Explorer guides lead guests on a scenic and thrilling ecotour of the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad while riding our innovative motor assisted pedal bikes that literally ride the rails! Guides must be high energy and outgoing, with a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills. Training is provided on site in a fun and supportive environment by our expert staff. This position is ideal for any individual ready to get outside and exercise in a dynamic and lively work setting.
Duties include:
• Greeting and communicating with customers.
• Pedaling Rail Explorer vehicles , with motor assist, on 12 mile round trip excursions (2-4 max a day).
• Maintaining a high level of professionalism in customer service & Rail Explorers code of Ethics.
• Adhering to all COVID sanitation procedures.
• Speaking in front of guests - approximately 40-60 guests per tour, following a script.
• Learning rail safety and maintenance of rail explorer vehicles - training provided.
• Checking in guests using an online booking system.
• Punctuality is crucial. The ideal candidate will be:
• Active, and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work closely in a team setting.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented, and responsible. Operating Days: (subject to change)
• Late May - June: Thu-Mon (5 days)
• July - Labor Day: 7 days/week
• Sept - Early Nov: Thu-Mon (5 days)
• Must have excellent customer service skills, be safety-oriented, have a love for exercise and the outdoors, able to use computers and mobile devices effectively.
Growth within the company is possible. Part time shifts are approximately 5-8 hours long. Full time shifts are 9 to 13 hours long. Comfortable troubleshooting mechanical and equipment problems. Other duties as assigned including but not limited a variety of tenant work orders and fit outs.
