Grant Writer Position at MVCAA in Utica, NY

Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) is looking for a Grant Writer in Utica, NY.

This position is a Full Time Executive level position with the responsibility of leading the growth and overall development of the agency. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Executive Team, appropriate board committees and community partners to identify new opportunities for the agency that align with the mission and prepare the applications for funding. This may also include assisting with renewal applications of existing programs. This position will also assist in implementation of any new programs.

Starting pay is $50,000 annually with full benefits and flexible hours.

• Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate and government sources.
• Perform research relevant to new opportunities
• Understand the organization's programs, goals and financial needs
• Keep careful records to track proposals
• Build relationships with partners.
• Promote the organization in the community.
• Develop corresponding budgets.
• Ensure compliance with all grant reporting as required by funders.
• Provide stewardship to current donors, including regular written updates (newsletters etc) to funders
• Assist with other fundraising projects as requested

The Grant Writer must meet the following minimum qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university; Graduate study in the general areas of communication, leadership development or non-profit management preferred with two years of experience in grant writing; or six years of qualified responsibilities related to inherent in this position.
• Ability to recognize and understand the causes of poverty and the conditional and environmental effects of poverty.
• Ability to research data applicable to project
• Enthusiastic and motivated.
• Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
• Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
• Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Must have reliable transportation and a clean and valid NYS Driver’s License.
