Work-Based Learning (WBL) for Schools, Community-Based Organizations and Businesses

Work-based learning is an opportunity for youth to gain work experience while also learning academic and technical skills. Schools, community-based organizations, and businesses come together to make these meaningful programs happen.

Best Practices for Coordinating WBL Programs

  • Conduct post-employment assessment or performance review.
  • WBL supervisors can regularly check in with WBL participants about upskilling and professional development opportunities.
  • CBOs and businesses can participate in Integrated Resource Teams (IRTs) to help support the participant's development. Encourage the participant to communicate progress frequently and convene the IRT group periodically.
